Dear friends,

It is my great joy to accept the Vestry’s call to be your Rector!

When I first visited St. Michael’s back in February, I could immediately sense the Holy Spirit’s presence among you. There was a sweetness and sincerity your welcome and your worship that I knew could only come from God. What a blessing it has been to discover that same presence of the Lord each week as we’ve worshiped together!

I’m deeply grateful for the way you’ve so warmly welcomed me into the St. Michael’s family, and even more for your faithful pursuit of God’s leading for this church. In our congregational meetings over the summer, I was struck by your commitment to prayer, not only as a means of discernment but as a unique part of St. Michael’s calling as a congregation.  And I was moved by your deep love for this church along with your willingness to embrace new things as we follow where God is leading.

Of course, we can’t know for sure where God’s leading will take St. Michael’s in the months and years ahead. But I believe that God has brought us together for such a time as this, and I am excited to journey with you into whatever the future holds. As I become your Rector, I pray that I will shepherd you with wisdom, with love, with courage, and above all with a joyful and expectant dependence on the Holy Spirit.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus, throughout all generations!

In Christ’s love,

The Rev. Erin Bair
