The Rev. Erin Bair

Rector

Erin was born in Chicago and raised in Georgia, but she’s called the DC area home since 2008. A graduate of Harvard College (BA in English and religion) and Harvard Divinity School (MDiv), Erin was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John Guernsey in 2011. In addition to her background in parish ministry, Erin has served as a chaplain in a hospital and an outpatient eating disorder treatment program, and she is a trained spiritual director.

Erin lives in Arlington, where she loves that Turkish, Ethiopian, Thai, and Salvadoran restaurants are all within walking distance of her house. In her free time, Erin enjoys exploring DC’s museums, theaters, and parks, as well as reading, cooking, hiking, and working the occasional 1000-piece puzzle. She also gets to Arizona and New Hampshire as often as she can to see her nieces and nephew (who she’ll inform you are the greatest kids in the world).

Erin accepted the call to be the Rector of St. Michael’s in September 2017, after having served as Interim Rector since April 2017.

Vestry

The vestry is the lay leadership board of St. Michael’s. Together with the rector, the vestry provides spiritual and strategic guidance to the church. They also oversee a variety of administrative responsibilities. Vestry members are elected by the congregation for three-year terms and can serve no more than two consecutive terms.

The senior and junior wardens are the leaders of the vestry. They work closely with and support the rector.
